Borrowed... and kept!

My friends have taken a small amount of cash and 'promised' to return it, but... haven't. I had spent a few weeks thinking it over and cursing them, especially one for treating me badly :P but now I think that the amount each has borrowed is small, whereas the total amount is quite significant...
Now, I think about the English language. It's borrowed quite an amount of words from all languages... spectacle, spectacular all latin. Dejavu and a lot more straight from the French textbook. Why do it? Why not just make new words? Well,

Isn't it the same as what happened with me in the first case? No. First of all, they didn't publicise my money... I wouldn't love that, though. Also, it ain't allowed to be compared as me teacher once said, "You can't compare a person's height and his marks in chemistry as Ratio."
